Stratatech Receives STTR Grant
Stratatech Corporation announced today that it received an $850,000 research and development grant from the National Institutes of Health. This 2½ year STTR Grant from the National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases is designed to develop a genetically engineered therapeutic human skin substitute for use in the treatment of skin wounds.
It is expected that such enhanced human skin substitute products will defend the wound site from bacterial invasion and expedite wound closure.
“This exciting new technology is aimed at filling a currently unmet need in the therapeutic treatment of severe wounds, including chronic skin ulcers, and should reduce suffering and extreme complications such as amputations” said Dr. Lynn Allen-Hoffmann, CEO of Stratatech.
Stratatech, located in the University Research Park, Madison, WI, is developing cutting-edge skin tissue products for application in the therapeutic and biotech markets.
